Kvelling

To “kvell” is to swell with pride, such as reading about my alma mater, The University of California Medical School, which won recognition as one of the top centers in the nation according to the US News and World Report. I also kvell for my kids and grandkids, a list of achievements that are considerable, and so forth. Last year around this time we graduates of the class of 1963 had our 50th medical school reunion.
This years I’m planning some classes on the ways medicine has changed in this last century, titled “We Don’t Do That Anymore.” Stay tuned. My first lecture will be on the history of psychiatry in my own time.
