Bonk?

Every once in a while a guardian angel—one of many—drops a bit of grace on you. Bonk? There it is: What are you going to do with it? Notice in the picture the other possible fates withheld. This is not a capricious decision. It is finely calibrated to what your needs are for another go-round of karmic development. Chances are you won’t even recognize it as more than a mysterious sound, or you may glimpse at something out of the corner of your eye bouncing.

bonk

You may, however, recognize it and use it as a bit of three-dimensional map-functioning coincidence, a message from “the beyond,” an oracle bit, hinting at what you might do well to do next. Now I’m not saying that it is, or the next bonk-like opening or mysterious coincidence (synchronicity) that happens in your life is a big opportunity. Maybe it’s just for practice.

But what if “living into faith” means that you interpret such bonk-events as opportunities to rise to your highest? You may want to read that book that just seemed to fall into your hands, or follow up on that website that you clicked on almost inadvertendtly, or respond to that outreach as if this might just be a friend in-deed. As my son might say, “It’s a plan.”

One Response to “Bonk?”

There’s a funny balance between “it all means something” and “it’s all noise.” On the one hand, if it all means something, then we can get bogged down in obsessive attention to everything; or perhaps even worse: the constant worry that we’ve missed the important signals. It’s delightful to be able to let most of it go, while occasionally catching the leif motif of a melody or the bonk of a beat.
