She created:    <br \/>&#160; The Triple Star Telephone, for refusing to surrender under heavy barrage of telephone solicitation calls;    <br \/>&#160;&#160; The Silver Cereal Box. for extraordinary strength of will, courage, and endurance displayed by simply getting the heck out of bed every day!    <br \/>&#160; The Bronze Yield, for meritorious mellowness exhibited by rapid-fire rush hour traffic;    <br \/>&#160; The Purple Eardrum for outstanding bravery and maintenance of open ears during heated marital combat.<\/p>\n<p>I read this and was inspired. It was a great idea! Indeed, There should be medals given for any of the following:   <br \/>&#160; &#8211; Coming through for family&#160; (Even or especially if you don\u2019t care that much).    <br \/>&#160; &#8211; Home maintenance: laundry, dishes, vacuuming.    <br \/>&#160; &#8211; Sticking to any resolution or self-discipline.    <br \/>&#160; &#8211; Starting something new or hanging in there past the sense of it being too difficult.    <br \/>&#160; &#8211; Remembering to be grateful.    <br \/>&#160; &#8211; Taking time to love the pet, pet the puppy or kitty,     <br \/>&#160; &#8211; Giving partner room in the bed.    <br \/>&#160; &#8211; Really listening to your child-\u2019s story, or your partner\u2019s\/    <br \/>&#160; &#8211; Quitting a job or activity that\u2019s making you feel sick.    <br \/>&#160; &#8211; Really thinking about God or metaphysics or your faith.    <br \/>&#160; &#8211; Letting Go, of important relationships?&#8230;    <br \/>&#160; &#8211; Singing whether you feel like it or not.    <br \/>&#160; &#8211; Answering email as follow-up.    <br \/>&#160; &#8211; Taking time\u2014no, making time&#8212; to talk with your neighbors.    <br \/>&#160; &#8211; Setting the table.    <br \/>&#160; &#8211; Giving time to the world, volunteering, believing is something enough.    <br \/>&#160; &#8211; Giving to charity.    <br \/>&#160; &#8211; Resisting an impluse to behave in an angry or imapatient manner\/    <br \/>&#160; &#8211; Not denying illness.    <br \/>&#160; &#8211; Flossing.    <br \/>&#160; &#8211; Putting on the seatbelt.    <br \/>&#160; &#8211; Expressing some real individuality\u2014going against the pressure to go along.    <br \/>&#160; &#8211; Talking through what might have been (foolishly) avoided, working things out.    <br \/>&#160; &#8211; Putting down the toilet seat or cleaning the toilet bowl.    <br \/>&#160; &#8211; Spending more money when it\u2019s worth it in the long run.    <br \/>&#160; &#8211; Voting, being somewhat politically actve.    <br \/>&#160; &#8211; Decorating for the Holidays.    <br \/>&#160; &#8211; Making up any degree of an elaborate costume for Hallowe\u2019en, or a costume party, or, better yet, acting the role your costume indicates.    <br \/>&#160; &#8211; Apologizing or admitting that one is wrong .    <br \/>&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160; What would you add?<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Marian Henley, a cartoonist who did \u201cMaxine!,\u201d created \u201cmedals\u201d (back in 1999)!
