Crap. I don\u2019t know: One man\u2019s garbage is another man\u2019s treasure. Actually, this stuff is just a bit more treasure than crap but it\u2019s a process. I hear an inner voice: \u201cBecause I <em>want<\/em> it, I want to <em>have<\/em> it! It\u2019s mine, all mine, hahahahah!\u201d says a little Gollum within me. (The Gollum complex is analogous to the Oedipal complex only in that it alludes to a literary figure. In Freud\u2019s case, the story of Oedipus\u2014which, I must say, really hardly matched, and also I disagree with the fundamental analysis, but that\u2019s beside the point; and as for Gollum, a slimy cave-dweller weirdo in Tolkien\u2019s Hobbit and Lord of the Rings trilogy, I think this complex better named. Poor ol\u2019 Gollum was addicted to his \u201cprecious\u201d Ring of Power that made him invisible and made him feel invincible the way I\u2019m trying to get free of my addiction to books.)<\/p>\n<p>So I\u2019m beginning to strive against my inner Gollum and give away tons (literally) of books and papers. I\u2019m gonna die some time in the future\u2014I can see it.
