Back when I was into psychiatry, Freudian&#8212;really, post-Freudian&#8212; psychoanalysis still was dominant, and though I differed with many of the ideas, some I agreed with. Last year I taught what has become more standard and evidence-based, and after thinking about it, though I agree with what I call a minimalist approach, it is deeply dissatisfying.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blatner.com\/adam\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/lifeenlargement.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"lifeenlargement\" style=\"border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; padding-top: 0px; padding-left: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: inline; padding-right: 0px\" border=\"0\" alt=\"lifeenlargement\" src=\"http:\/\/blatner.com\/adam\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/lifeenlargement_thumb.jpg\" width=\"391\" height=\"525\" \/><\/a>&#160; <\/p>\n<p>Looking at old pictures from a time when I played Linus in a community theatre production of \u201cYou\u2019re a Good Man, Charlie Brown,\u201d based on the Peanuts comic strip and the cartoon work of Charles Schulz. I drew this while awaiting to go on stage. Some of Schulz\u2019 cartoons used the trope of Lucy as amateur psychiatrist, \u201cPsychiatry, 5 cents, and this came to mind.
