There was a lovely scene in our back meadow this morning. A little fawn scampered up to his mother and began to nurse. It took about ten minutes! After about four minutes the mommy ewe reached around and liked the baby\u2019s bottom. What\u2019s that about? Meanwhile the fawn is eagerly licking and thrusting its head up against the mommy\u2019s abdomen. (Does this stimulate milk production?) The baby was so persistent and eager that it might be wondered if she hadn\u2019t worked up a \u201cpowerful thirst.\u201d Mama deer was all ho-hum. I suspect it felt good.
